Erika and Andrew’s Story:

How He Asked: Andrew popped the question while he and Erika were driving through a Christmas light show at the local zoo. With a stunning ring placed on her finger, Erika said, “Yes!” Their magical evening as an engaged couple ended with bottle feeding a baby tiger, and a photo-op with Santa Clause.

Favorite Wedding Memories: Erika and Andrew loved how their entire day was perfectly imperfect. From Erika forgetting to bring down her veil and stopping midway down the aisle to do so, to Granddaddy Lone Legs climbing up her dress during the ceremony, they would not change a single aspect of their wedding day!

Advice For Future Couples Tying The Knot: “Don’t stress the small things,” advises Erika. “At the end of the day, you’ll be married to the love of your life surrounded by your closest family and friends. That, in and of itself is a fairy tale.”

2015 Outer Banks Bride Magazine: Soundside & Spangled

Moving away from the traditional beach wedding, Sarah and Jonathan planned a wedding near the shores of the Roanoke Sound at the Roanoke Island Festival Park. From the red, white, and blue tablescapes designed by Engaging Events to the groomsmen’s ensembles, they embraced an Americana theme for their July 5 wedding. Our talented vendors like Matt Lusk Photography, Bells & Whistles, and It’s Royalty Salon, Spa & Nails helped make this wedding feature in our 2015 Outer Banks Bride Magazine utterly breathtaking.

Sarah and Jonathan’s Story:

Wedding Date: July 5, 2014
Color Palette: Red, White and Blue

How He Asked: After 10 years of dating, Jonathan still managed to completely surprise Sarah with the proposal. While they were out crabbing they came upon the third crab pot, which unlike the two before did not have any crabs. Instead there was a waterproof box (which had been zip-tied shut for extra safety!) that held Sarah’s engagement ring! Jonathan’s dad and brother had planted the crab pot before they had ventured out, and Jonathan had hand painted the buoy with their engagement date and their initials.

Favorite Wedding Memories: Something these two will never forget about their wedding was the first named tropical storm of 2014 almost ruining their plans. With lots of prayers, Hurricane Arthur thankfully hit the early morning of July Fourth and had moved off-shore by that afternoon. “It turned out better than we could have imagined, and it’s true what they say: the date after a hurricane is the most beautiful day!,” recalls Sarah and Jonathan.

Advice For Future Couples Tying The Knot: “The best piece of advice I can offer is to have a wedding planner, especially for destination weddings,” recalls Sarah. “Beth made everything so easy, took care of all the details, and was always there when we needed her! Her vendor recommendations were spot-on, and we wouldn’t have change a thing!”

Karyn & Cory, Nashville, TN

Karyn was literally the girl next door when Cory moved into a condo next to her in Nashville. Sharing a passion for travel, the beach and country music, this duo’s friendship quickly blossomed into an unbreakable love. Think traditional, beach elegance intertwined in luminous pinks, blues and perfect details, and you have this couple’s Outer Banks wedding by Julie Dreelins’ Beach Productions. Their big day is by far one of the most exciting weddings we’ve shared as Karyn recently finished touring with Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood! Enjoy!

2015 Outer Banks Bride Magazine: Local Jubilee

A Southern-style jubilee that becomes a community celebration speaks to my heart in so many ways! For Alli and Elliot’s wedding day it was exactly that and more, designed in soft blush and green accents. Held in the heart of downtown Manteo, Genevieve Stewart Photography and Swell Productions captured all the sweet moments and lovely details planned by The Proper Setting. Alli and Elliot’s Story:

Wedding Date: August 23, 2014
Color Palette: Blush and Pale Green

How He Asked: After five and a half years, Elliot took Alli to a local Outer Banks restaurant for romantic date after spending some time a part while she was finishing school, and he off from chartering fishing. The dinner was quite, until Elliot presented Alli with a gift, a silver necklace with a monogram engraved on it – only it was her new monogram! Alli still isn’t sure if she even answered Elliot when he got down on one knee, but he gave her a beautiful diamond!

Favorite Wedding Memories: “The whole day was amazing! Weddings are the best because you are surrounded by all the people you love,” recalls Alli. “Having all those people together to celebrate you is the best feeling in the world.”

Advice For Future Couples Tying The Knot: “It’s acceptable to be picky! Enjoy every last minute of your engagement, wedding planning and especially your wedding day. Lastly, splurge on the things that are important to you!”
