2015 Outer Banks Bride Magazine: Island Romance

What happens when Outer Banks Wedding Association members Bordeaux Events and Basnight Photography come together? You get an impeccably styled, beautifully captured wedding. Hold on to your seats, because Laurie and Aaron’s Carova wedding is absolute perfection; and we were so happy to feature them in this year’s Outer Banks Bride Magazine. After getting engaged on the Outer Banks, choosing to have their big day on the island was a no brainier. With relatives coming from California and New York, they designed a day that was a family affair filled with island charm.

Laurie and Aaron’s Story:

Wedding Date: May 9, 2013
Color Palette:
White, Champagne, and Caribbean Blue

How He Asked: Aaron proposed in May of 2011 while they were vacationing with friends on the Outer Banks. It was their first trip on the island! What Laurie thought was a casual walk along beach, turned into a life changing moment when Aaron dropped on one knee.

Favorite Wedding Memories: Having 40+ of their closed family and friends stay with them for the entire week of their wedding! Also, they still cherish the toasts by the Best Man and Matron of honor, who they both have known for over 10 years. They each gave heartfelt and humorous renditions of their years together leading up to the big day.

Advice For Future Couples Tying The Knot: “Weddings are a celebration of love; not a creator of it. The effort and memories are only worthwhile if the marriage is. Planning for the most extravagant or most simple of weddings starts with ensuring your family and friends will be part of it.”

2015 Outer Banks Bride Magazine: Countryside Château

Last weekend was the big launch of our 2015 Outer Banks Bride Magazine at our Wedding Expo! We’ve been dying to showcase our member’s talents and some of the most breathtaking weddings on the Outer Banks. The feedback has been wonderful this year, and we are elated to show an in-depth look into our featured real weddings and engagements.

Reigning from Chesapeake, Virginia, Amber and James designed their wedding with a simple, rustic, and laid-back ambiance. Sanctuary Vineyards became their perfect venue for tying in autumn details of wine barrels, pumpkins, and burlap. They said, ” I do” in the middle of the vineyard in front of family of the close friends and family.

Amber and James’s Story:

Wedding Date: November 16, 2013
Color Palette: Orange and Purple

How He Asked: With a bouquet of lush blooms and a custom engagement ring, James surprised Amber at her apartment on a Friday evening. While she was placing the flowers in a vase, he got down on one knee and popped the question! “It was private and low-key, just like the two of us,” reminisced Amber.

Favorite Wedding Memories:
Amber: “As cliche as this sounds, my favorite part was seeing James at the front of the aisle. Seeing him reminded me that despite all the stress, time, money and jitters going into the wedding, I was there for a reason…to marry him.”

James: “It was the moment I first saw her step out of the car. I cherished every step that brought her closer towards the front of the aisle.”

Advice for Future Couples Tying the Knot: “Do what you want to do! We made sure to talk after each vendor visit and decide if the path we were on was the one we truly wanted,” said Amber and James. “In the end, we said “no” to a long of things, but we said “yes” to those that mattered most to us as a couple.”
